NY: Knopf,, 1937.. First US edition.. 211 pp. Near fine in very good dust jacket with damp-staining to spine, which is also chipped at base and crown. Lectures delivered in New York at the New School for Social Research. Translations from the original German by H.T. Lowe-Porter and Rita Matthias-Reil. Dated (8/37) and SIGNED by Clifford Odets on the first leaf, which also bears his embossed stamp, “CLIFFORD ODETS / NEW YORK CITY.” About a dozen instances of underlining or bracketing by Odets who has penciled on the verso of the last leaf, “Title. ‘Once Upon a Time.”
