About This Item
Bristol: J W Arrowsmith, 1891. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. Undated [1891]. First edition. Hardback, bound in tan cloth with printed titling and design to upper board, and gilt titling to spine. 19 × 12.5cm, 336pp. Signed and dated by Max O'Rell to the title page. Léon Pierre Blouet was a French author and journalist, and this is his account of travel through the United States in which he compares the differences between the American and French societies. The book is illustrated by E W Kemble, perhaps best known for his illustrations to Twain's Huckleberry Finn. Condition: A good copy. There is some grubbiness and marking to the covers, and one gathering is starting to loosen but the book remaining in strong readable condition. Previous owner's bookplate to the ffep (Reginald H Mardon). An uncommon title to find signed.
