Chapman & Hall Ltd.; London. Undated. Originally published 1837. Three volumes- French Revolution. Hardcover. Blue hard back covers with gilt lettering to spines. Spines a little crushed to top and bottom. Centenary edition -three volumes of 'The Works of Thomas Carlyle' in thirty volumes. Vol. I The Bastille Vol. II The Constitution and Vol.III The Guillotine. White end papers. Some tanning and foxing to first and last few pages. Frontispiece of all three depict b/w portraits protected by tissue. Hand cut pages. Binding tight and text clean. Index to rear in Vol.III. Volume I slightly discoloured. Vol.I has an inscription to FFEP dated 1936. More photographs available on request.
