New York: The Free Speech League, 1916. Enlarged Edition. Very Good. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Signed by Author. SIGNED Presentation Copy, inscribed "To G. Legman with compliments of Theodore Schroeder, 3/16/44, and with ink bleeding through two following pages. Gershon Legman was a leading bibliophile, book-scout, erotophile and literary sleuth. Good-looking, structurally sound copy bound in light green linen weave cloth over boards, black lettering to spine. Spine head and tail bumped, light rubbing to extremities, moderate toning to endpapers and pastedowns, else a clean and unmarked and bright copy. Foreword to this Enlarged Edition, doubled in size from the original edition. Reprinted at frontis is the announcement of the founding of the Free Speech League who published the work. Ten republished essays on liberty of speech and press, principally from other works such as "Arena" and "Mother Earth," published originally between 1906 and 1915. "Lawless Suppression of Free Speech in New York," "The Meaning of Unabridged Freedom of Speech," "Our Progressive Despotism," and other pieces. The author asks, "how far may a radical go?" Particular focus on the San Diego Free Speech Fight. viii, 1-206 pp. and with complete, full index.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
