About This Item
Vancouver, BC: np, 1969. First Edition. Very good.. Scarce publication by these three Canadian artists. Consists mainly of appropriated xeroxed excerpts of texts by authors including Antonin Artaud, William S. Burroughs, Jean Toche, Alexander Trocchi, and Ad Reinhardt. Additionally, contains original text and/or image contributions by all three editors, and artists Bill Vazan and Laura West. Wall, Lunden, and Wallace exhibited together at the University of British Columbia in Feburary 1970. In a contemporary review of that show, Dennis Wheeler described FREE MEDIA BULLETIN as a "precursor" to the exhibition, and an "attempt... to establish a ground on which to build an education in an envelope filled with socio-aesthetic documents vital to each of the three artists." OCLC finds just six locations for any issues, only one of which is in the US: Oklahoma's Cameron University [!?]. Mentioned in Lippard, SIX YEARS, p. 110. 4to. 8.75" by 12" envelope printed on front, housing sixty-five 8.5" by 11" xeroxed sheets, many stapled at corners, printed rectos only in variously colored ink. Envelope good plus to very good, with large tears along opening side. Contents near fine to fine.
