About This Item

Westport, CT, U.S.A.: Praeger, 1998. This is a study of Roosevelt's role in the formation of the Canadian-American military alliance and shows how he pursued two distinct strategies: he encouraged senior civilian and military advisers, who viewed Canada as part of a British imperial rival, to regard Canada as a natural ally, and he used his influence to convince Canadian leaders, concerned that closer ties could lead to being absorbed by the United States, to pay greater attention to North American defense, finally resulting in 1940 in a military alliance (gray & maroon cover with gold lettering on the front & spine; a bright, clean, tight copy in nearly perfect condition; in stock & available for immediate shipment from a reliable independent bookstore). Fine/No Jacket.
