About This Item
1928. Autograph. VG. No Binding. Signed by Author(s). Sized 8.5 x 11 inches, on Franklin D. Roosevelt letterhead, 26 lines, signed, "Franklin D. Roosevelt," in a very pretty secretarial hand, plus the original mailing envelope, addressed to Mr. A. A. Bridwell, Louisville, Kentucky. Roosevelt, at the time, was running for Governor of New York, which he had done at the urging of sitting Governor Al Smith. He would win the election within about a month, and begin his term January 1, 1929. In the letter, Roosevelt promotes Smith in the upcoming Presidential election against Herbert Hoover, and presents relevant points for consideration. Hoover, of course, would win convincingly, even taking New York state. Roosevelt, however, would very narrowly win the Governorship..
