London:Richard Bentley, 1849. First Edition. hard cover. Good/No jacket. http://www.parnassusbooks.com/image/data/books/2015/04/0_039.jpg. London:Richard Bentley. 1849. 455pp. Illustrated. Original green boards, with title and decorations in gilt, are heavily worn, rubbed and lightly soiled. The spine edges, top and bottom, are worn and chipped, with small tears. The edge points are bumped and worn to boards. Page edges are soiled. Internally, tape marks to inside boards where someone has secured a plastic cover to the book. The front hinge is cracked and rear hinge is starting. The binding is still holding but is cracked at page 272/273 as well. A previous owners name is penned to the top of the title page but otherwise, aside from a few bits on foxing, the pages are relatively clean and bright. A good solid copy.
