About This Item
NY: Harper, 1939. First Edition. 8vo, pp. 393. Bibliography, index. With several illustrations. Red cloth. A VG tight copy in chipped dj. The unconventional Wright was a friend of Lafayette and Robert Owen, and advocated the abolition of capital punishment, miscegenation as the solution of the race problem, equality for women, a national system of education, and other radical causes. She founded the short-lived Nashoba community in Tennessee as an experiment with the emancipation of slaves through a system of cooperative labor.
