Junior Literary Guild/ Doubleday Doran, New York, 1938. First Edition. Hardcover (illustrated Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Maud and Miska Petersham. How to pronounce the phone words and what they mean. Green coloured end pages. Colour illustrated frontispiece, the black-and-white illustrations and the occasional coloured plate within the text have been created by Maude and Miska Petersham. Black coloured cloth covered boards with green coloured embossed illustration to the front panel and green coloured titles to the back strip. Pale green tint to the top text edge. Illustrated dustwrapper, same illustration as for frontispiece, with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The adventures of Annaliese, Hansel, Lottchen and Friedl at their uncle's farm high up in the Black Forest, along with a plump white goose called Lena. Rubbing to the lower book edges with softening of the back strip edges and bumping to the top right hand corner of the front panel. Some darkening of the end pages. Light tanning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. Some Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. There is a 0.25" tear to the top right hand corner of the back strip, with a similar sized tear to the top edge of the rear panel. The back strip shows sunning and there is rubbing of the book panels and edges. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [10], 11 - 216 pages,. All Four Corners Clipped.
