Novel in the Nelson Library of Copyright Fiction by the Scottish author Sarah Broom Macnaughtan (1864-1916), who volunteered for the Red Cross at the outbreak of the First World War and wrote extensively about the plight of refugees from the Armenian genocide, before contracting a fatal illness abroad. 314pp illustrated with colour drawing to frontis. Blind stamped design to top board and spine, gilt lettering to spine, green illustration to endpapers. Slight bumping to spine, corners and edges, marking to page edges, rough creasing to some top corners and white marking to top board and spine, otherwise good copy with no inscriptions. DJ is unclipped, with some edge and surface wear and hole to rear panel, otherwise fair in clear protective cover..
