Groundbreaking work by the famed sociologist as he approached the culmination of his career & an amazing association copy in that it was SIGNED by the AUTHOR with a personalized inscription to Leo Chall, founder of Sociological Abstracts, from whom I received the book in the 1990s. Dr. Coleman served as President of the American Sociological Association, & died in 1995; this was his final book. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, with a photo frontispiece & 993 pages, it has been in storage since that time. Condition is Fine: condition: hardcover small quarto has light gray cloth-covered boards with a black title box on spine stamped in gilt. Review notice laid in. Completely clean, binding strong & straight, pages white & unmarked, untanned, unfoxed. The unclipped DJ, on the hand, has suffered insect/silverfish damage, with many holes & jagged chips to all extremities; looks nice in new clear mylar cover, provided free!
