Prepublication sample issue of Fortune magazine prior to its first official publication in January 1930. Enclosed is a letter from the publisher detailing the magazine's purpose, its subject (business) and philosophy. Stated on this letter: This dummy "will give advertisers some hint of what Fortune Vol. 1, No. 1 will be like when it appears January, 1930." Many pages have place holders for where images would be inserted with text describing what image would be included. Includes images by Margaret Bourke-White and Louis Lozowick. Spotting and general wear to wraps (see image). Second half of magazine is blank pages, as published. viii, 55 pp., [~60 pp.] 11 1/4 x 14 inches.
