About This Item

Chatto and Windus,. Hardback. First edition. Illustrated by Jonathan Kingdon with black and white frontis and a small number of further illustrations mainly of African wildlife. Jonathan Kingdon is also the illustrator of the attractive red, white and blue dust jacket. The text is based on notebooks from Elspeth Huxley's three month visit to Tanganyika, Kenya and Uganda in 1963. Maps. Blue cloth with gilt titles to spine is clean but has the patterns of the dust jacket sunned like a stencil making faint patterns onto the cloth, mainly to the spine, which is not unusual for this edition. The dust jacket is still bright to the front but tanned to the spine and has a few closed tears and some minor hcips and slight creasing to edges. Some slight sunning to the cloth at the very edges. Binding is sound. Not price clipped but the price has a faint pen line through it. Good+, sound copy in like dust jacket . Hardback. First Edition. 1964.
