Gutters and margins around endpapers a little darkened. Cover is slightly darkened at about 1/8" deep at the top and bottom edges. Overall, this is an amazingly beautiful copy./Jacket is clean and crisp with 3/8" deep chips at top and bottom of spine. 1/4" scrape on front panel. One 2" horizontal closed tear at the bottom of the front panel. A little creasing at top and bottom edges. And a little rubbing along the joints of jacket.. Author. The story of two little Mexican boys, Diego and Popo. Accompanied by their pet parrot, Polly, they seek the ancient tree-lizard, called the iguana, that lives in a pool deep in the green forest. 40 pp. with 8 beautiful full page color illustrations. These lovely tempera paintings have a quality of primitive art created by a very sophisticated artist. Laura Adams Armer won the Newbery Award for her 1931 book about Navajo life, Waterless Mountain. Each page of text has a small marginal page drawing of aboriginal art, all different and printed in different colors of ink. There are 20 of these charming little drawings in all.
