Blue cloth with color plate on front cover, decorative gold titles on spine. BAL 3451. First state with !! Signature mark p.161, American Publishing Company lower edge of spine as well as on title-page. Minor scuffing on cover plate, rubbing head and heel of spine, light rubbing on corner tips. Interior clean and bright, hinges tight and sound, light discoloration blue cloth on spine. Original owner's date and signature in pencil on first page (December 25, '97) This book remained within the same family until recently. Very Good+ attractive hardcover.
Synopsis
Following the Equator (American English title) or More Tramps Abroad (English title) is a non-fiction travelogue published by American author Mark Twain in 1897. Twain was practically bankrupt in 1894 due to a failed investment into a "revolutionary" typesetting machine.
