London: Bradbury, Evans, 1866. First edition. Hardcover. Orig. three quarter navy watered silk lettered in gilt, red morocco corners and spine. Aeg. Very good. Leetch, John. Folio, 22 x 31 cm. Ttwenty-one etched plates by Leetch which were used as frontispieces to "Punch's Pocket Books." The plates and vignette on the title-page are colored by hand. FIELD p.101 [JOHN LEETCH ON MY SHELVES] notes the sketches "show an interesting development in his work." Gordon Ray called Leetch, "a Victorian gentlemen at home in good society." Plates clean, and very bright, slight corner and backstrip extremity rubbing. Two armorial bookplates.
