A collection of traditional British folk tales as retold by various English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh authors, as selected by Kevin Crossley-Holland, along with his introduction. Subjects for these tales range from fairies, beasts and ghosts through giants, saints & devils and magical creatures. Titles of the stories, along with locale of origin and author are listed in the table of contents. Illustrated with the woodcuts of Hannah Firmin. --- In patterned green paper-covered boards backed in black cloth, with gilt-stamped spine titling on green block; green topstain. Volume housed in green paper-covered slipcase. --- An about-Near Fine copy with prior owner's bookplate affixed to front paste-down and small tears to two leaves at back of book, else unmarked, bright and tightly-bound. Structurally sound slipcase with faint sunning, otherwise in great shape.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; xi, [3], 393 pages .
