A bright copy of this beautifully and colourfully illustrated volume of rock plants, enclosed in the original pictorial dust wrapper. A delightful volume on rock plants and flowers, in particular various species of cacti. The first English edition of this work, originally published in Paris in the same year. Including a preface by Henry de Montherlant, a French essayist and dramatist. Translated from the original French by S.P. Skipwith. Beautifully and colourfully illustrated with forty brilliantly illustrated plates in colour, collated and complete. All illustrations by artist Arlette Davis, showcasing plants such as the 'cephalocereus polylophus', 'echinocactus grusonii', 'opuntia bergeriana', and many more. Enclosed in the original pictorial dust wrapper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with shelf wear to the boards and some very light staining to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper has some sunning, as well as some edgewear and chipping to the extremities. A closed tear to the right side of the front of the wrap as well as to the tail of the rear of the wrap. Some loss to the head of the backstrip. Internally, firmly bound. A few spots and handling marks to the end papers, otherwise pages are bright and clean. Very Good
