The novel was adapted into an 1935 American film noir directed by Robert Florey, with Donald Woods and Margaret Lindsay as the main roles.Illustrated with five striking monochrome full-page illustrations by American artist, Wallace Smith. Collated, complete. With the bookplate of American illustrator, Elisha Brown Bird, who was known for his eye-catching poster designs. Bound in the publisher's original buckram cloth. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to the extremities, heavier to the head and tail of the spine, causing slight loss. Spine has darkened slightly. HInges are slightly strained, with cords visible. Bookplate to the front paste down and ink inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean with age toning. Very Good
