Ltd, London, 1951, 1st Edition, hardback with dust wrapper, VG/vg, boards bound with maroon faux leather covers, gilt title to spine, gilt vignette to front, decorated end papers, text block with rounded corners and red/blue mottled edges, colour frontispiece in addition to 48 colour plates, 55 half-tone plates, and numerous text figures and diagrams, 383 pp. Boards clean and firm, gentle rubs to head and tail of spine, no inscription or annotations, sound tight binding, pages clean and bright, edges of text block mottle printed, small dark mark to bottom fore-edge corner. Chips and rubs to wrapper (see scans), 1.5cm chip to top edge of back cover, old repair with Sellotape visible, damp has caused colour bleeding to inside of wrapper, grubby in places, not clipped, now protected by acid-free archive film.
