A superior copy of the first edition of Laurens van der Post's tale of African adventure in the original, unclipped dust wrapper. The first edition, first printing of this work. An successful anti-communist novel in the guise of adventure story concerned with a Soviet plot to take over South Africa. Alfred Hitchcock was planning to film the book, but gave up the idea when he lost the support from South African authorities. Penguin Books kept Flamingo Feather in print until the collapse of the Soviet Union.Written by Sir Laurens van der Post, South African Afrikaner writer of the 20th century. Known for his interest in Jungianism and the Kalahari Bushmen, as well as his experiences during the Second World War, and his relationships with notable figures including the now King Charles III and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Complete with unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely. Dust wrapper unclipped and very smart with minor shelf wear, light sunning to spine, tape reinforcement to head and tail internally to wraps, not affecting the externals. Internally, firmly bound. Light minor spotting to edges, not affecting pages that remain bright and clean. Near Fine
