London: Oxford U.P, 1969 First printing, first edition, Oxford University Press, 1969, ex-school library book, in about the best condition that could be expected: DJ unclipped and still protected by laminating cover; text still a fresh green with still bright gilt titles. Flaws include tape stains and their imprint to end papers, Remnants of the date due slip at the rear and consequent wrinkling; deaccession stamp, black felt and blue ink markings on title and copyright pages. Third book in a trilogy, this volume describes the return of a young widow post World War I to Flambards, the home of her childhood.It has its own Wikipedia page containing a 'spoiller' advising of a subsequent publication in which Peyton changed the ending provided in this book!
