About This Item

New York, New York: Cuppless & Leon Company, 1908. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good-. Nuttall, Charles. Book #3 in the 9-volume "Great Marvel" series (which ran 1906-1935) by "Roy Rockwood'' (best known for his "Bomba the Jungle Boy" series), one of the pseudonyms used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. One in a large series of mystery & adventure books originally issued by this publisher for young adult (YA) boys & girls in the early decades of the 20th century, this series was a sci-fi one in the style of the wildly popular Jules Verne (Keeline, 2000) This is a slightly later printing of the true FIRST EDITION from Cupples & Leon, 1908, listing to self in book & to book #8 on front DJ flap. In 242 pages + 10 pages of other series titles from this publisher in rear, decorative endpapers (with "This Is My Book" box empty), glossy Frontispiece by C. Nuttall. Hardcover12mo has bright rust colored cloth-covered boards stamped with black lettering to front & spine, front board showing an airship, clouds, & waterfall. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, paged significantly tanned, heavier around edges, but completely unmarked & still supple. A tad of rubbing to extremities. The unclipped DJ is VG-/G+, with heavier rubbing to edges of spine & flaps, many small chips, heaviest at both ends of spine; beautifully protected in new clear mylar cover for your collection! Our photos depict the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
