About This Item

London: Published by The Folio Society, 1995. Three Volumes 8vo. First published 1902-1906, reprinting the illustrations by H. R. Millar, originally from Strand Magazine publication.
Three volumes brown cloth hardcovers with illustrated upper boards in printed slipcase. Very good, near fine set.

Heavy will require extra postage. "One day Robert, Anthea, Jane, Cyril, and Lamb find a rather grouchy sand fairy called a Psammead. It says that they can get five wishes from it, but each wish will all turn to stone at sunset. As everyone knows, wishes aren't as easy as they look, and what with accidental wishes, unforeseen consequences, and good old-fashioned bad luck, the children soon find themselves having the time of their lives. The adventure continues in the two following books, and with the aid of magical elements like a flying carpet and a time-travelling amulet, there's no shortage of mischievous antics for the siblings.
