About This Item
London: Ernest Benn, 1957. Cloth. Near Fine/Good. 8.5" by 5.5". H. R. Millar. A wonderfully illustrated edition of E. Nesbit's famed children's novel, in an unclipped dust wrapper. E. Nesbit (1858-1924) was an English poet and children's author, writing and collaborating on over sixty works for children. As well as 'Five Children and It', one of her most famous works, she wrote 'The Railway Children', 'The Enchanted Castle' and 'The Magic City'.This work was first published in the Strand magazine in 1902, before being expanded into a novel. It was followed with two sequels. The plot follows a group of children who have recently moved to the countryside as they stumble across a sand-fairy, the Psammead, and their subsequent adventures. Illustrated with full page drawings throughout by H. R. Millar. In a full cloth binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally lovely, very slight fading to the head and tail of the spine. Dust wrapper is unclipped, rather runned to the spine, with a large crack running up the front joint and chipping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
