Cambridge: printed at the Riverside Press, 1869. 12mo, pp. 55, [1]; pages ruled in red throughout; frontispiece and 3 wood-engravings in the text (1 full--page); original brown cloth stamped in gilt on upper cover; small hole in front free endpaper, 2 small pressure stamps on first and last pages of text, spine sunned and spine ends chipped, else very good. Bookplate of Roderick Terry. A satire in verse on the social-register crowd summering in Newport. Brewerton was born in Newport and raised throughout the Northeast as the family followed his father who was a Brigadier General and who, from 1845 to 1852, was superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He became best known as a painter of western landscapes.
