New York: Charles B. Richardson, 1866. 3 volumes. First volume: 4 tissue-guarded portriats (including frontis), 389p. Second volume: 5 tissue-guarded portraits (including frontis), 10, [1], 18-386p. Third volume: 5 tissue-guarded portraits (including frontis), [5], 6-391p. plus 3 unnumbered pages of publisher's advertisements at end. Original matching blindstamped cloth bindings. 23 cm. Modest chipping at ends of backstrips. Small pieces of cover cloth reglued at center of backstrip on first and third year volumes. Some hinges reglued. Some offsetting and foxing, most noticeably on tisuue guards and their adjoining portraits and text pages. At head of title on each volume: Southern History of the War. Pollard, a white pro-slavery Confederate sympathizer, was an editor of the Richmond Examiner during the Civil War.
