Small octavo. xvi, 44, [2]pp. Pen and ink drawings by Lawrence E. Walker. Calf-backed decorated boards. Spine very lightly rubbed, edge of boards slightly darkened. Front and rear gutters browned as usual (leather offsetting). Overall, a fine copy. "Fourgeaud's newspaper article, reprinted here for the first time in book form, is important for including one of the earliest published accounts of the gold discovery" (Kurutz). The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
