Cassell & Company Ltd., 1931. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1931. Reprinted. 252 pages. No dust jacket. Black cloth covered boards with gilt. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout, heavier at end-papers, paste-downs and text-block edges. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout however binding remains reasonably firm. One heavy crack at page 32. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Top edge of text block is dust marked. Book has a slight forward lean. Gilt lettering is darkened. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains.
Synopsis
Some of Paul Harley's most interesting cases were brought to his notice in an almost accidental way. Although he closed his office in Chancery Lane sharply at the hour of six, the hour of six by no means marked the end of his business day. His work was practically ceaseless. But even in times of leisure, at the club or theatre, fate would sometimes cast in his path the first slender thread which was ultimately to lead him into some unsuspected labyrinth, perhaps in the underworld of London, perhaps in a city of the Far East.
