New York:Charles Scribner's Sons, 1940. First Edition. hard cover. Very Good/No jacket. New York:Charles Scribner's Sons. 1940. 1st edition. xviii+393pp. Illustrated with color and black and white. Hardcover. Blue boards with title in gilt on front cover and spine lightly soiled and shelfworn with gilt on spine quite dulled. Internally, end-pages darkened with age, with a bookplate to inside front board. The darkening also affects the spine edge of xiv-xvii, possibly from glue? Otherwise pages clean. The binding is tight and hinges intact. A very good copy.
