Engraved title page. Hardcover, rebound in 3/4 morocco with purple boards. 4 raised bands and ornate gilt design on spine. Good copy. Outer hinges rubbed; spine leather scuffed; corner leather worn through. A few plates are foxed, but only lightly. Clean and unmarked text. Byron's journey through Scotland, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Switzerland. Missing 12 plates but still a nice copy of this scarce title. Digital images available upon request.

John Murray, 1111. Hardcover. Good. No Edition Remarks. Fully bound in red leather. Title: Vintage Music Box Book - In Finden's Illustrations to Lord Byron - Plays 'O My Papa'. Ex-libris plate stuck to front pastedown, belonging to John James Purnell. Book includes title page and first few pages, the rest more recently made into a secret storage compartment with music box activated when book is opened. Functioning movement with key included. Pages remain bright and clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Thumb-marking present. Rear board is slightly coming loose from glued text lbock. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light crushing to spine ends. Visible sunning to spine and edges. Noticeable peeling leather to spine and edges. Visible marks and scratches to boards.

Extremities rubbed and chipped, some splitting at spine ends, front hinges cracked, more so to vol 1, some browning and foxing to plates, vol 1 has brown staining to base corner of prelims and a few other pages (doesn't affect content), otherwise a clean and solid couple of volumes.. George Virtue, London. 1838. 4to, 216pp, with numerous black and white engraved plates and one fold-out map (lightly creased and with one closed tear). A very good hardback copy in attractive original gold decorated green leather boards. Some very minor rubbing to leather. Gold fore edges bright and clean. All plates have original protective sheets, with occasional offsetting from engravings.

Rare original poetry book with cloth covered boards, copyright 1880 by J. W. Shoemaker & Co. This edition published in 1906 by the Penn Publishing company, Philadelphia. From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.

The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows…) that led to me writing the poem "Quartering." Which was informed by them, of course, and by all the rooms I'm in, and by imagining what is really required of all the caregivers I love.
