Then-film editor for Black Creation magazine & the first African American film critic elected to the New York Film Critics Circle, the author surveys black scenes & actors & entire films from the early days of filmmaking in the 1920s through the "blacksploitation" films of the 1970s. In 205 pages + 16 pages of black-and-white photos. A First Edition, first printing from 1973, this hardcover book has black cloth-covered boards with silver lettering to spine. Condition is VG+: aside from stamps in front & back & outside bottom page edges from the US Navy library in Imperial Beach, CA, it is completely clean, binding secure & straight, pages creamy white. The price-clipped DJ is Near Fine, having been protected under library mylar, which has been carefully removed & replaced with new clear mylar cover!
