New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1896. First American Edition. First Printing. Octavo (20 cm.); decorated blue cloth-covered boards titled in gilt on cover and spine; 464pp.(ii); illustrated with black and white plates by Ernest F. Sherie. Former owner's name on front free endpaper; spine ends pushed; light rubbing to extremities. Near Fine. The British edition precedes in the same year.

Future war fantasy in which, "...the American Navy intervenes on the British side, Russian revolutionaries capture the Tsar, the Indian Army storms across Persia to attack Russia, and the new Thomson Electric Rifle gives the British troops a devastating secret weapon" (Clarke p.121ff).
