Near Fine condition in a Near Fine slipcase. Sharp corners. Short closed tear to the edge of two early leaves. 1975. First Edition. From the limitation page: "This Collector's Edition limited to 200 copies... has been specially bound, slipcased, numbered and signed by the author. This is No. 68 (signed) Jeff Dykes." 93 illustrations, 10 full color. Includes 1,400 entries on Frederic Remington alone and 5,000 more on Beeler, Bjorklund, Borein, Cisneros, DeYong, Dunton, Ellsworth, Fogarty, Hurd, Koerner, Lea, Santee, Schoonover, Von Schmidt, Zogbaum, N. C. Wyeth, Will James, William Robinson Leigh, Frank T. Johnson, and 30 others. According to William Reese, this "work describes many Western items recorded nowhwere else." At the rear of this collector's edition is a special 16 page section where pages are printed with artist's names. Added so the reader can add notes and additions. Bound in the original blue cloth, stamped in bright silver on the black leatherette spine, and with a rattlesnake and coyote vignette on the front cover. Complete with slipcase.
