Missing dust cover and slipcase. Rare in tan, pebble impressed boards with reddish brown leather spine and quarter front and back. Leather with black stamped cover and spine titles faded, rubbed. Cover with very slight shelf wear, lower corner bumped. Gilded top edge bright. Internally clean and bright, unmarked, binding firm. 104 Fifth Avenue, New York: Three Sirens Press. No date; circa 1950. Intriguing nouveau illustration throughout by Harry Clarke in full and partial page renderings. Highly influential renderings during the golden age of gift-book illustration in first quarter of twentieth century. Clarke (March 17, 1889-1931) was a famed Irish book illustrator and stained glass artist. Born in Dublin, he was a leading figure in the Irish Arts and Crafts Movement. Translated into English, in the original metres, by Bayard Taylor.
