Le Guin initially intended it to be the final novel in a trilogy, but 18 years later she continued the Earthsea Cycle with Tehanu. The Farthest Shore won the National Book Award in 1972. Octavo. Original black boards, spine lettered in purple, front cover decorated with dragon design in purple, and endpapers purple. With dust jacket. Illustrations in the text. Minor foxing to top edge, small mark to bottom edge; jacket spine faded, edges rubbed, a few short closed tears, faint damp stain to verso, with consequent rippling, still bright, unclipped: a very good copy in good jacket. Currey, p. 304; not in Locke.
