Before becoming Arkansas' Governor, Faubus served as an intelligence officer in Patton's Third Army (320th Inf., 35th Div.) during its drive through France & Germany, rising to the rank of Major. This book records his daily activities & thoughts. INSCRIBED on the free endsheet to a fellow soldier: "To -- Walter J. Zimbrick my comrade of the 35th Infantry Division [of? in?] World War Two In comradeship [signature] 12-2-'93". Book shows light wear, Zimbrick's notes, mostly in pencil, a few in pen, on the rear free endsheet; jacket rubbed with light chipping, minor rippling. Text clean; [viii], 7 pages b/w photos, blank, 774 pages; list of Arkansawyers in the 35th; glossary, update for the second edition including 20 pages of b/w photos from the album of Col. C.
