About This Item

London: Michael Joseph, 1957. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Near Fine. 8" by 5.5". None. A very smart, first edition copy of this novel by John Masters. The fifth novel in Masters' saga of the Savages. Following the titular character, Peter Savage. With the original unclipped dustwrapper. This particular novel deals with a realistic and heartbreakingly triumphant tale of marriage, the years of suspense during the First World War, the complex picture of India during early nationalism, and the cost of ambition. A very smart copy of this work. In the publisher's original cloth binding. With unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent with minor shelf-wear to the head of spine. The dustwrapper is very smart. A few light chips to the head of spine. Tape repair internally to the joint. Minor sunning to spine, as is common with this work. Otherwise, the front wrap remains extremely bright with just the odd spot. Minor offsetting to the endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Fine
