About This Item
[Glendale, California]: Roy A. Squires, 1976.. First Edition (Xiccarph Edition).. Original Wraps. First Edition. Quarto, original printed wrappers, sewn on spine. Issued as THE FUGITIVE POEMS OF CLARK ASHTON SMITH; Second Series, Fourth Volume. Hand-printed letterpress on Curtis Rag White Wove paper, pale blue wrapper. One of 222 "ordinary" copies, this being copy number 80. A fine copy, in the original publisher's mailing envelope (slightly browned).
¶ Collects eight poems: Winter Moonlight; The Twilight Woods; The Waning Moon; The Throne of Winter; The Fanes of Dawn; To The Morning Star; Temporality; & Wings of Perfume. A note on the publisher's printed envelopes: one curious aspect for collectors of Squires' publications concerns his custom of issuing pamphlets in a white 'inventory control' envelope, usually with the title printed on the front. It should be noted and understood that Roy just made them to differentiate items for himself he once said "They are not meant as official parts of the publication, and if my intent carries any weight they will never be mentioned in any bibliography. Id prefer that they be discarded on receipt.
