Illustrator: the author. bound in original red cloth covered boards, slightly bumped of the head and tail of the spine, with handling marks to the upper part of the front panel. Foxing to the top and front edges of the text block. Illustrated end pages, Sunday School bookplate pasted to the half title page. Internally clean, free of annotation and apart from a foxing spot on pages 4 and 5, and offset tanning from an admission ticket at the contents page where it was used as a place marker, there is no damage to describe. 1st published in 1937, the book was awarded the library Association Carnegie medal for 1937, and tells the story of a Dustman and his wife a Washerwoman, and their large family who lived in a cul-de-sac.
