Abilene, Texas: Gurney E. Ward. Good. Cabinet card depicting a family portrait with both parents holding instruments. Photographer's imprint on front of card; no content on verso. Dated to the 1890s. Photo measures 3 ¾" x 5 ½"; card measures 4" x 6 ½". Card has moderate chipping around edges and light soiling; the photo has light scratching and deterioration. Photographer Gurney E. Ward operated in Abilene, Texas from 1892-1897. The portrait he took of this family exhibits the talents of each member - the man in the photo strums a banjo, the woman holds a guitar, and the baby has one hand on the neck of the guitar. .
