About This Item
Sunshine Press, nd [1940s] 1940. 1st Thus. Hardcover. VG+/G++. 1st Thus 21 x28 cm pictorial paper covered boards. Unpaginiated 37 fairy tales from the Grimm Brothers and Hans Christian Andersen with 8 full page colour plates by Anne Anderson and 90 black line illustrations within the text. In original dust jacket. The boards are clean and bright with a little shelf wear and some rubbing to the spine tips and corners with tiny splits at the joint tips. There is a small corner crease to the top corner of the front board. Internally, without name, inscription or bookplate and just the occasional spot mainly on the text pages facing the colour plates. All plates are present and in fine condition noting a marginal corner crease to the plate titled 'Strong Hans' which is the result of a production fault as can be seen from the fact that the top corner of the plate is uncut. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover has losses to the head and foot of the spine which extend half way onto the rear panel, to a depth of 2.5cm on the top edge and 3.5 cm on the bottom edge. All in all a profusely illustrated book with some lovely colour plates. Rainford & Parris Books welcomes enquiries, so please do not hesitate to ask if you require further images or have any questions. All books are packaged with great care.
