The first edition of prolific author Gerald Kersh's powerful novella regarding soldiers and a march towards a short but brutal desert battle in World Word Two. A beautifully paced read with much comic relief and fully-realised characters. With the unclipped dust wrapper, which lacks the rear wrap. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. With a previous owner's bookplate tot he front free endpaper. The dust wrapper is rather worn with some shelf wear and some chipping, with a closed tear to the spine, which is slightly sunned; with a major loss of the rear wrap; unclipped. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
