The sixteenth fable in this volume, 'The Hare and the Partan', is written in Scottish midlothian dialect. Fables include 'The Young Lady and the Looking-Glass', 'The Kite and the Rooks', 'The Muse and the Shepherd', and 'The Grasshopper and the Glowworm'. Including 'A Dialogue Between the Author and Friend' to the rear. Wilkie was a minister of the Scottish Church of Scotland, and a Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews. In a full rebacked calf binding. Externally, generally smart. A little discolouration and minor marks to the boards. Light bumping and rubbing to the extremities. Evidence of former wear prior to rebacking to the joints and to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some scattered spots. Very Good
