A limited edition of a series of fables written in verse by the English playwright and poet John Gay (1685-1732). The fables are accompanied by the wood-engraved illustrations of Gillian Lewis Tyler, who has signed the limitation page at rear of book. Stated limitation of 1,950 copies, unspecified copy number. Includes a preface by Peter A. Tasch. --- A very well-made book, in tan paper-covered boards with Tyler illustrations to covers; backed in reddish-brown cloth with titling on tan spine label & TEG (top edge gilt). Volume housed in heavy-duty tan paper-covered slipcase with titling and Tyler artwork to one panel. --- A clean, tightly-bound, bright copy with a couple of faint scratch to covers, else lacking apparent damages. Slipcase also in great shape but with a couple of tiny scuff marks to front panel.
