Berlin: Gebr. Feyl, 1938. Limited edition. Hardcover. g. 1/1000. 4to. 39, [1]pp. Original half suede over paper-covered boards with gold lettered sued cover plate and gold lettering on spine. Red title-page vignette. In 1476, Swabian author and humanist, Heinrich Steinhöwel translated a legendary biography description of the life of Aesop and Aesop's Fables which he put into a Latin-German encyclopedic version called "Ulmer Aesop." Parts of Steinhöwel's work are adapted by Victor Zobel in this limited edition. Illustrated with full-page woodcuts by Professor Masjutin. Printed on Zerkall paper. Head captions printed in red, rest of text in black. Text in German, gothic script. Sunning and minor staining on binding. Water staining on top margin of leaves throughout, not affecting text or plates. Two water stains on free front endpaper, otherwise crisp and clean. Overall good condition.
