Timeline endpapers 300[5]pp with black and white photographic illustrations throughout. In original unclipped dust jacket priced at $24.95. Signed by the author and five pivotal figures of the Civil Rights movement on the half title page; John Lewis, Jesse Jackson, Dick Gregory, James Meredith and Coretta Scott King. A little shelf wear and a small ding on the top edge of the front board. Internally clean, noting only a faint tide mark measuring 4.5 x 0.3 cm on the top edge of the index and a couple of preceding pages at the rear of the book. Of the signatures at the front those of the author and John Lewis are dated November 8th 1999 The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown) has small loss to the corners and the joints at the head of the spine. There are three closed tears of 0.5 -1 cm along the top edge and a 1.5 cm triangular chip front the top of the front panel with some associated creasing. This book was produced as the companion volume to the award winning PBS series of the same name.
