New York: Random House, 1978. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Fine. Presentation copy inscribed by Welty to emeritus professor at Emory University Floyd Watkins and his wife Anne. Very Good in a Fine jacket, unclipped ($10.00). Quarter green cloth with green paper on the boards. Square and firmly bound, a stain at the top and bottom edges near the spine, clean internally. A collection of Welty's nonfiction pieces, spanning from literary criticism on the likes of Chekhov, Austen, Forster, Cather, Porter, Faulkner, Woolf, and others, to fairy tales, folklore, and Mississippi cooking.

Synopsis

One of America's most admired authors, Eudora Welty was born in Jackson, Mississippi, which is still her home. She was educated locally and at Mississippi State College for Women, the University of Wisconsin, and the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. She is the author of, among many other books, One Writer's Beginnings, The Robber Bridegroom, Delta Wedding, The Ponder Heart, Losing Battles, and The Optimist's Daughter.
