About This Item
MP3 Audio CD. Since most people have begun to collect an account of the things that have been achieved amidst us, like those who from the start were observers and clerics of the word have conveyed them to us, it appeared best to many of us also, having charted everything carefully for several years before, to draft an organized narrative for us, highly tremendous Theophilus, that you might have definitely regarding the things you have been instilled. The Gospel of Luke, which we now start, includes several treasurable things which are not documented in the other three Gospels. For example, are the accounts of Zachariah and Elizabeth, the angel's message to the Virgin Mary, and, to discuss in general, the entire gist of the first two chapters. As, once more, are the histories of the transition of Zaccheus and of the repenting bandit, the journey to Emmaus, and the renowned moral tales of the Pharisee and Tax-collector, the affluent man and Lazarus, and the Prodigal Son. These are fragments of the Scripture for which each well-taught Christian is very uniquely grateful. And for these we are obligated to the Gospel of Luke. The brief preface which we have already read is a special highlight of Luke's Gospel. But we shall discover, upon going over, that it is complete with much helpful teaching. John Charles Ryle was the first Anglican bishop of Liverpool. He was the oldest son of John Ryle, private investor, of Park House, Macclesfield, M.P. for Macclesfield, and Susanna, daughter of Charles Hurt of Wirksworth, Derbyshire. He was born in Macclesfieldon. He studied at Eton and the University of Oxford, where his profession was oddly eminent. He was Fell exhibitioner at Christ Church, from which institution he entered. He was Craven academic, earned a degree in B.A., having been situated in the first class in literæ humaniores, and progressed a degree in M.A.. He was created D.D. by diploma on 4 May 1880.
